Singing lessons for kids in Springfield, MO
Yes, children sing in every class at Children's Music Academy. We teach singing to children ages 3 to 9 inside a weekly music class you attend with your child, where singing in tune and in harmony sits beside keyboard, rhythm, reading and ear training. It is how a young child's ear is trained, and it is the part of class most children sing all the way home.

How CMA teaches singing
Singing is the first instrument every child owns. At CMA it is also the fastest way into music: a child who can sing a melody back has already learned to hear it, and hearing comes before reading and playing. Every class sings, from the first Pre-Junior week to the graduation performance.
Over the course your child learns to match pitch, sing in tune with a group, hold a part in harmony, and sing what is on the page. Voices are trained gently and in a group, which is how most 5 year olds are happy to sing at all. Your child sings beside you, and most parents find their own voice coming back.
Why singing belongs inside a whole music class
The ear is the point
Singing in tune trains the ear faster than any instrument. A child who sings a phrase and then plays it on the keyboard understands both, which is why CMA never separates the two.
Groups make young singers brave
At 4 or 5, singing alone for an adult is frightening and singing with a room is fun. The class is the method.
Harmony is learned early
Children at CMA sing in parts long before most children meet the idea. It is one of the things graduates are known for.

Questions about singing at CMA
Do you offer private voice lessons?
Every class at CMA is a group class with a parent in the room. Private one to one lessons, adult lessons and in home lessons are outside what we offer. For a child between 3 and 9, singing in a class with keyboard and ear training is the better foundation, and it prepares a child for voice lessons later.
My child sings all the time but off key. Will this help?
Yes. Matching pitch is a learned skill, and singing in tune with a group every week is how children learn it. Most children at CMA sing in tune within their first year.
Does my child have to sing alone?
Children sing with the group. Solo turns come when a child wants one, and many do by the graduation year.
